Hi, can anyone help me to decode the ATEX marking codes ? eg. Cinterion's BGS3 is II 1G, 2G . Does it mean it is group II cat 1 and cat 2 ?
There’s a good summary of the different classifications of EU and US ATEX marking codes at: http://lgmproducts.com/atex.asp or you can download the full specification at: http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/sectors/mechanical/files/atex/guide/atex-guidelines_en.pdf
In answer to your question about Cinterion BGS3 – it means it is group 2, cat 1 gas/mist/vapour, cat 2 gas/mist/vapour
My colleague used to work at Cinterion and I can ask him to provide more information if you need it.
