In case 3G network is available in the test location and you use 3G SIM card, the module will camp on 3G network by default.
In case there are some difficulties, you should be able manually to register on 3G network by using +COPS command.
Please provide me the module's response on the next commands:
AT+COPS=? // it may take a few minutes to get response on this command
Please provide me also the AT command scenario you used to force module to camp on 3G network
Finally, feel free to submit your technical inquiries to the Telit Support Desk at email@example.com
Thank you for your response. I was able to switch between 2G and 3G networks this morning.
Firstly I executed the
I recieved a few responses showing me GSM and UTRAN(3G) networks, the difference being that in the UTRAN networks the last digit is 2 and in GSM I think it is 0 or 1.
Then I sent AT+COPS=1,1,"Network short name",2
The network I wanted to join had both a GSM and 3G presence, so I simply chose the 2 at the end and hence 3G.
Glad this is sorted.
Thank you all for your responses.
Do consider that manually forcing the device to 2G or 3G means that you may lose connectivity when you otherwise wouldn't. That is, when the network only has 2G or 3G coverage, the device won't automatically select the available technology.
Vitaly - As an alternative to "AT+COPS=1,1", can "AT+COPS=4,2,<MCCMNC>,1/1" be used so that the device moves to the available network technology. I'm certain this works in general for falling back to automatic network selection when the selected network is lost.
